2020: The Year of Discipline
Hello 2020! I have a great feeling about this year for my personal growth and I hope you all have set out to make this year an intentional one too. Instead of doing a vision board, I decided to make a vision blog post! Not only have I made a New Year’s resolution, but I’ve also decided to really focus on them in a thematic way. My theme this year is discipline. Truthfully, I’ve only had a handful of experiences in the past few years that really challenged my discipline and those few times were extremely difficult to complete. I want to take it a notch and practice discipline with a few things.
So in the year 2020, I really want to practice more discipline and I hope that maybe this will inspire some of you to join me. I have since recruited a few co-workers and a few friends to go on this similar journey by going on a 30 day “no” challenge. If this particular theme isn’t what you want to tackle this year no problem, but I hope it inspires you to make the effort to make whatever changes you want to work on and stick to it.
I decided to commit to giving up one thing per month for the entire year. For example, for the month of January, I have given up alcohol. I’ve already been challenged 4 times since the New Year and it hasn’t been a full week. Some examples include: invitations to happy hours, sitting at bars drinking water while waiting for a birthday dinner to start, and being asked on dates to go grab drinks (btw finding love operation is in full swing).
What I’ve learned in such a short amount of time is I guess you never really know how much access you have to something until you put a restriction on it or take it away. Saying no to that access willfully is painful and hard af. Wish ya girl good luck because I know I will definitely need it. In addition to giving up something per month, I have also made a pledge to myself to make better improvements in my life. I have a few goals I want to accomplish. I hope that by putting this out into the universe and pairing it with my discipline practices, I will manifest it and be able to check those boxes off. I will list the things I’ll be giving up each month in no particular order, and the things I wish to improve on throughout the year.
· No alcohol
· No red meat
· No meat/vegetarian
· No carbs
· No sugar
· No weed
· No sex
· No dining out

· No coffee
· Go Vegan
