Hike Life: Taking the High Road to Mount Lowe

I ain’t choose the hike life, the hike life chose me! In need of another activity you can do that is inexpensive/free? Let’s go hiking! Kill two birds with one stone by getting that booty into shape, while being one with nature and exploring the world around you. You’d be amazed at all it’s beauty. I received so many questions regarding this particular hike and I’m here to give you the 411. Plain and simple, you have to see this place in person. Believe me, the pictures do it no justice. We took a trip to the
pearly white gates, aka HEAVEN.

Oddly enough, my partner in crime and I, were concerned about the overcast that morning. We thought the day would be an overall gloom doom, but it turned out to be one of the most breathtaking and rewarding sights I’d seen in a very long time. I would suggest going on a day of overcast because that’s when you get to see the heavenly clouds.

I wouldn’t be me without a pitstop photoshoot. If you look behind me, those clouds are where we eventually end up. Talk about perspective.

After I find out I made it into heaven.

This happened in REAL LIFE! I meannnnnn!

On hike-losangeles.com the trail to Mount Lowe is about 3.2 miles roundtrip. WiFi can be spotty so if its a new hike for you, screenshot the trail on your phone for reference and make sure you go with a partner. An adventure pass is needed for this hike so you can look here to find a nearby location. I believe it’s only 5 bucks for the day.

Hiking essentials:

  1. Hydrate the day before. Water is your friend.

  2. Eat a balanced breakfast. Now is not the time to do fasted cardio. Elevation gain, and continuous movement is much harder on an empty tank.

  3. Bring Water. You can never be too safe.

  4. Bring Snacks. If you began to feel dizzy or woozy, (for those who didn’t listen to number 2) eating something will help.

  5. Sunblock. Please believe if there is no shade and you are out in the sun for hours you will get burned.

  6. Sunglasses/Hat. Optional but nice to have another barrier of protection from the beaming sun.

  7. Jacket. Depending on the weather, you may or may not need this but it’s nice to have if you are hiking in the early morning when it tends to be chilly.

Cloudy with a chance of melanin.

There is more to this hike life than Runyon Canyon. Don’t be so basic. Totally kidding! That’s a nice place to start for sure but consider exploring the dozens of hiking trails Los Angeles has to offer and have the best climb of your life!

Haters will say it’s photoshop.
