Since the start of quarantine, you may have accumulated a whole new wardrobe like I did. You may have used this time to cope with the reality of living in a global pandemic with some retail therapy. If you are anything like me you just knew the quarantine was going to be only a few short months and we would resume life like normal. Welp! It just didn’t happen that way. Admittedly, I felt like a whole clown getting my outfits ready for the quarantine release only for it to be extended.

If you’ve picked up some items and you don’t have anywhere to wear them, create some content because someone is going to see these ‘fits and if it has to be Instagram, then so be it. Now that we are moving into the fall and winter months and work from home has been extended another 3 months, things won’t be back to normal for a while. Do you know where these outfits are going to live though? On the gram!

I met Oscar through my homie Jonnie and naturally we clicked, he showed me a few concepts and I got inspired to repurpose my bridesmaid dress. He wanted something flowy and at first I had no idea what I had in my closet then boom, I remembered that beautiful dress I had only worn once before. Listen, if you have clothes in your closet collecting dust and you just can’t seem to part with it for sentimental reasons or otherwise, repurpose it!

Due to Covid, the Griffith Observatory was actually closed so we improvised a bit to get some great shots. Griffith Observatory gives me Santorini vibes and while I’ve never been to Greece I do recognize the Greek revival and art deco style of the observatory. We had to hike up about a mile or so at noon. There is parking that is closer to the Griffith, however after 10am they shut off the entrance to promote social distancing.

I packed a pair of sandals so fortunately my feet were spared and we hitchhiked back to our cars in the back of a pick-up truck so that was a relief to my toes after 5 hours or so in heels. My hair and makeup were trying to hold on for dear life and thankfully they stood the test of time. I often wonder what other models have to endure on various shoots because I know the elements try to take me out. If I’m not freezing, I’m sweating, or thirsty or tired or hungry. This isn’t for the faint of heart okay! This is pure dedication to the art of content creating.

There are a few take-aways from this shoot. You can repurpose clothing to create a whole new vibe, wear all of your quarantine outfits because who knows when outside will be fully open again, hydrate, eat and pack what you need, because you just might be out there for half the day.

Here are a few flicks taken by Jonnie on the same day (images 1, 2 & 3 edited by Barry Daly).
