Beychella (aka: Coachella)
As I sit here and write about my first ever (and probably last) Coachella experience, I am still in shock from the greatest performance I have seen in my entire life! Beyonce completely slayed my entire existence, snatched me bald and it was then I realized, we just don't deserve her. If you hadn't already noticed, I'm a part of the BeyHive and I stan for Beyonce, but by stepping out of my fandom, I can also acknowledge that I will give credit where it is due. She earned that. I just kept thinking about how that 2 hour HIIT performance was worth the entire price tag of Coachella. If you didn't see her in person for Weekend 1 or 2, you definitely missed out. If you live-streamed it, that's awesome but believe me - and whoever else saw her live - you completely missed the magnetic history-making experience. Beyonce is the first black female headliner at Coachella. "Aint that a bitch?" These were actual words spoken directly from the Queen B and I couldn't agree more. An entertainer of her stature and accomplishments and she is just now, in 2018, headlining Coachella?! Tuh! This should have already happened.
Beyonce gave tribute to HBCU culture and I'm not gonna lie, I'm low-key salty I didn't attend one. The performance was, without a doubt, unapologetically black and I lived! Female empowerment was another theme that heavily laced the entire performance and I left Coachella that night inspired, ready to take over the world, and quite frankly, not needing to see another performance from anyone else. I also wanted to tell every man that looked my way to shut up, even if they didn't speak a word to me. I was that satisfied, fulfilled and bossed up! Okay fine, I really wanted to see Cardi B too so I thought, "since I'm already here, why not party with Cardi?" Cardi gives me the authenticity I love to see from artists, especially when that is so hard to find these days. I was so proud of Binderella.
Here's the scoop on why I won't be returning to Coachella next year...Beyonce.
The End.
